Brown: Write-in for County Board District 1
letter to the editor stock

From Jim Brown

Monroe

To the Editor:

Hello, I’m Jim Brown, a resident of Monroe since 1978. I’m a write-in candidate for the Green County Board of Supervisors in District 1.

Life in Green County is good. My wife and I moved here at the encouragement from friends, who told us of the charm and friendliness of the community. They weren’t wrong. We stayed, we raised a family, and having both grown up in small Wisconsin communities, we’ve appreciated the values and traditions of this area.

As the years have gone by, some things have changed in the county. Our agricultural models are much different, as are our industrial and commercial bases. As a former business owner, having experience with manufacturing as well as having worked in both retail and service jobs and on church boards and volunteer positions, I’ve seen the concerns for responsible spending and restraint in taxation and I’ve heard the calls for accountability as well as for cooperation. The issue of safety in our communities and neighborhoods is even more present and keeps us alert.

What has always stayed the same, however, is the people. The desire for strong, supportive care for all has been a stronghold for our area. The truth we’ve come to know is that our lives can’t be lived out alone. We need each other — we need community and the support we can give each other. I feel privilege to be involved in that with my neighbors and friends and would like to represent you on the County Board.

I’m asking for you to write in “Jim Brown” when you vote on April 7th.

Thank you.
