To the Editor:
Last week I watched the JFC (Joint Finance Committee) remove Governor Ever’s $480 Million dollar investment in childcare. With yours and your fellow members of the JFC actions show us that the future of our state is not those children between the ages of birth to 5, but with those who sit at a desk in the state capital. If the Senator reads his emails and does not have his aide read and respond he would actually know what a majority of his constituents want in relation to the governor’s childcare investment.
As of this letter, neither Senator Marklein nor Representative Born has reached out to those who have been in Madison all week trying to sit down with them and discuss.
Due to the JFC actions 25% of in home and centers will close by the end of 2025 and the remaining centers and in homes will be forced to increase their tuition by as much as $30 per week to offset the high costs and to retain the quality teachers.
80% of all Wisconsinites are in favor of funding/investing in the childcare system.
