From Christina Becker,
Christina’s Family Daycare, Monroe
To the Editor:
This past Friday State Representative Jenna Jacobson visited our family daycare. She listened to our concerns on the state of childcare within the state of Wisconsin. There are currently five family daycares in the city of Monroe and in the next year 2 it will be closing due to the lack of state investment and retirement. We also discussed many other issues including the lack of first-time home buyers’ options for the younger generation who want to purchase a home. Representative Jacobson was very engaged with the children during her visit as well as very interested in our ideas and different ways to have state investment.
Her visit was refreshing as to our last state government visit, Senator Howard Marklein a few years ago when all he wanted to do was talk up the Republican policies and not want to discuss ways the state could invest into the childcare crisis.
We will welcome any candidate running for the 17th District in Wisconsin Senate to visit during or after hours to discuss how we can revive the childcare profession in the state.
