To the Editor:

First and foremost, I want to thank anyone that has taken action in any form against this current administration. Courage is being scared but having the bravery to do it anyway.

To our elected officials, community leaders, and Law Enforcement Officers: organize now if you haven’t already. Have a plan of action that is communicated to your communities. Be ready to protect and serve your community, not the interests of the ruling class. It is no longer a matter of if, it is a matter of when. Be on the right side of history, just like the Antifaschistische Aktion (or Antifa for short) in Germany in the 1930s. If you choose to not do these things, I will be joining others in asking for your removal from your position regardless of party affiliation. At the end of the day, we are all part of this community. 

To the Republican Party of Green County: you have yet to make ANY statement about the atrocities committed in the past year. Now is your chance to separate yourselves from this administration. The best time would have been in 2016. The next best time is now. The worst time is to never do it. Is party affiliation more important than your neighbor’s safety? Should a militarized police force have unchecked authority? Is authoritarianism American? As Teddy Roosevelt (Republican) put it, “To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public. Nothing but the truth should be spoken about him or any one else. But it is even more important to tell the truth, pleasant or unpleasant, about him than about any one else.”

To the Democratic Party of Green County: now is the time to capitalize on this momentum. Fight for working class families, hold those responsible accountable (regardless of party), and be the opposition party. Run, and vote, on Left-wing populism. Show everyone that their tax dollars will benefit them, not just billionaires. Don’t capitulate to fascists. Don’t uphold the status quo from the Biden or Obama administrations. Abolish ICE. Get money out of politics. End for-profit healthcare. End the two-party system.
