To the editor:
It is a time of year to reflect back and give thanks. We would like to send a huge thank you to all of our supporters who attended one of our events, made a donation, or shared your story after losing a loved one. Tyler's TEAM Foundation has touched many lives, and we are so grateful for your continued love and support.
In 2017, we were able to award seven scholarships to area graduating seniors. We supported workshops for adults and students on suicide awareness and mental health. We also were able to donate a series of conflict/resolution books to 13 area elementary schools in Green and Lafayette County. We co-sponsored our fourth annual Angels Among Us of Green County, an amazing event that is family-friendly and is an opportunity to remember loved ones who have been lost to suicide or to support those who continue to struggle. The Tyler Pierce Memorial Event was held in August at the Juda Community Park. This is our annual fundraiser. We co-sponsored Scott Backovich in November, who spoke to middle and high school students from nine area school districts. Over 3,500 students and staff heard his powerful message. To stand up and be that person. To have courage and give hope. That's just what Scott did.
In 2018, we will be hosting A Reach for a Star Painting Event on January 28. We will co-sponsor along with Jacob's SWAG Foundation our 5th Annual Angels Among Us 5K run/walk on April 14. We will also be hosting our 8th annual Tyler Pierce Memorial Event the first weekend in August.
