To the editor:
Bravery. You won't find it in the White House. Egotism. That you will find in the White House. We are being led by a man who has the worst quality a leader can possess - egotism. It's all about him is the way he rules. He gave a huge tax cut for the wealthy, of which he is one. The sign-in book at the White House is filled with names of corporate heads from across our country. What do they ask of the president? What do they receive in return?
Bravery. There is a handful in Congress, such as Senator Jeff Flake and John Nichols. The rest are sleeping while our country is no longer the country of Washington, Jefferson, Roosevelt and Lincoln. And the women who showed us the way, such as Betsy Ross, Jane Adams, Eleanor Roosevelt and Michelle Obama.
I think our leadership must come from the women in our country and the brave young people who are standing up and telling our leaders to give up the grip of greed and ban military-type rifles. These young people are showing the rest of us the way towards democracy and the way it should work.
Instead we have Congress in the grip of the wealthy. So many of them have sold their souls in return for money. Dirty, tainted money. We all know the story. It has been around for too long a time. The Supreme Court is even in the group that lacks bravery. Instead they turn out rulings like Citizens United that says "Corporations are people." That ruling opened the doors to Congress, and we no longer have a government of the people, by the people and for the people. We have a government led by the rich.
The election in 2018 and 2020 will seal the deal as to what direction this country will go. It will be one of the most important elections ever held in this country. I am asking our people to pay attention to what is said in these elections and remember our president tells lies EVERY day. And he is doing just as the Romans did when Rome was falling apart. He puts on shows for the people. Will we have a government that will continue the Trump Era or will we return to DEMOCRACY? It's up to you.
