To the editor:

I have lived in Monroe for three-fourths of my life, and have always proudly told others where I am from. However, I have never been more proud to be from Monroe, than during this last week.

It has been amazing to witness how our community - and the surrounding communities - have pulled together during this most difficult time. The number of creative and meaningful ways that people have rallied to support the families involved in the tragic car accident has been truly inspiring.

These families will need our continued support and prayers in the coming weeks and months, as well as other families in Monroe, who constantly struggle with daily needs.

These kinds of encouraging, supportive, and meaningful bonds and activities are what make Monroe a great place to live. #Cheesemakerstrong#Monroeproud
