From the Black Hawk High School Varsity Girls Basketball team
South Wayne
To the editor:
On behalf of the Black Hawk Varsity Girls Basketball team, we would like to thank our community for their support throughout the season. From November to March our community was very supportive in attending all of our games. Our team was fortunate enough to make it to the state tournament this year and can't thank the community enough for being so supportive.
We were one of the smallest teams up at the state tournament, yet our school sold the most tickets which truly speaks support. Together we cannot describe the feeling as we were walking out to the floor for the state championship. As we were walking out of the locker room to go onto the floor, the whole entire Black Hawk section stood and was cheering, and the game hadn't even started yet! The overwhelming support brought tears to all of our eyes.
Our team ended up getting second place and receiving the silver ball, but the support was not over. About three hours later as our bus got to Monroe, there were Black Hawk fans outside of their cars showing how proud they were. Then, coming into Browntown we were escorted by 13 firetrucks that brought us all the way back to the school. And finally, as we came into South Wayne there were people outside of their cars all over the town cheering and clapping for us. As we walked into the gym, we were greeted by our community on the efforts this season.
We cannot begin to express the feeling of having so much support throughout this season, and again we would like to thank everyone that is a part of our community. We hope that you continue your appreciated support on April 3rd with your "YES" vote so we can continue to have all these great opportunities. The state trip was just one of many that we are so fortunate to have as a BLACK HAWK WARRIOR! Thank You.
