To the editor:
After Reading Ann Prophett's letter, I had to respond. I've lived here almost 60 years, and Larry Lindgren always said Monroe Swiss were a stubborn, caring, loving, compassionate group.
When the tornado hit in April 1966, Monroe came together to help. Through thick and thin, this town has pulled together to help people hurting. The pastors of the local churches deserve a kudos for reaching out and showing Christian love. I suggest sending a money contribution to the Green County Salvation Army and St. Vincent's De Paul for the wonderful work they do here. The three lives taken so quickly that afternoon should not be forgotten. Send a contribution in their names.
And let's all pray for all the families involved. Let's pull together and show Christian love and compassion.
