To the editor:
I am 96 years old and blind with a lot of time to think. At the end of World War II my degree in economics from the University of Wisconsin qualified me to attend and graduate from the Institute of International Affairs in Geneva, Switzerland. My certificate was written in French and I would like to show it to you. INSTITUT UNIVERSITAIRE DE HAUTES INTERNATIONALES. Below these words was the word for certificate in very large letters - CERTIFICAT. Below that was my name and below that were six signatures.
Now back to the point of my letter. The other GI's and I thought that because Russia helped the Allies win the war that the enemy of our enemy was our friend. How naive we were.
Our professors were all refugees from European universities and tried very hard to warn us about the future. They said, "Most of you will live to see the day when the Russian Bear will try to claw you to pieces." I am afraid that day is here.
Being a Democrat, I did not vote for Trump; but he is our president. In the words of Julius Caesar, "et tu" Vladimir.
