To the editor:

I find it necessary to comment on what I considered to be irresponsible and sensational reporting in regards to a recent local abuse case. I know this family and none of them were respected or served well by the front-page expose. All of us need to respect the family. Members of this family continue to live in this community. How were they served by this article? This family has suffered through a lengthy delay in the proceedings only to now suffer through unnecessary details being displayed on the local newspaper's front page. I find it perplexing that our culture and media on the one hand decry abuse but on the other hand sensationalize it. Our young girls and women need to be respected and cherished not just in their family but in their culture, in the media of this culture, our athletics, our movies, and in our press. I am sure that the perpetrator will be brought to justice. I do not think justice was served by this reporting.
