To the editor:
Thank you for once again making Prom for Pennies a Success.
On Sunday, Jan. 25, the Monroe High School Students of Service Club sponsored our Fourth Annual Prom for Pennies Dress Event. Our event was very successful thanks to the generous donations from community members and businesses throughout Green County and southern Wisconsin.
This year we collected more than 350 new and gently used prom and formal dresses for the event. We would like to thank the Monroe area churches, area businesses, the Monroe Woman's Club, Heidi Witt from the Monroe AV Department and Jennifer Bochar from the Monroe High School Library Department for supporting the dress drive. Special thanks to the area bridal shops for their generous donations of new dresses.
We would also like to thank Kurt and Teri Ellefson and Gail Eiserman who, along with numerous area businesses, donated items for our raffle or supplied items to make the day a success. A special thanks to Monroe Theatre Guild for allowing us to use their facility for the event and to the Monroe Morning Optimist Club for their help in funding the event.
The success of this event is due in great part to all of the people who came and shopped, bought raffle tickets and those who volunteered their time helping to set up the event. The event wouldn't have been as successful without the generous support from Green County area and the Monroe Community. The proceeds from this event will be donated to Jacob's SWAG Foundation, Inc.
The Students of Service group will continue to collect formal and prom dresses throughout the year in anticipation for our Prom for Pennies event in 2016. Donations can be to the Monroe High School Students of Service Club by contacting Katie Lehto at 608-328-7339 or KatherineLehto@monroe.k12.wi.us. Thank you once again for all of the support.
