To the editor:

The Monroe Parks and Recreation Department would like to thank the Kiwanis Club for donating $800 to purchase candy and toys for the Easter Scavenger Hunt. This is the 29th year that Kiwanis Club has sponsored the Easter Hunt. A special thank you to the Kiwanian's who volunteered their time to help with the Scavenger Hunt, which was held on Saturday, April 12 at the Monroe High School. We had over 500 children attend the hunt which was moved indoors because of the inclement weather.

Thank you to the MHS Boys and Girls Track Teams for volunteering their time to help with the Scavenger Hunt and Basket Benefit. A special thanks to the School District for allowing us to have our events at the High School.

Thank you to the After School kids for helping get the trinkets ready for the hunt. Thanks to the Senior Center volunteers for putting toys in to the bug tubes. Thank you to Colony Brands for donating the "Piggy Banks." We'd like to say thanks to all the area businesses who donated coupons or items for the Easter Scavenger Hunt.

A special thank you to Jesse Anderson for dressing up as the Easter Bunny for the fifth year and putting a smile on hundreds of children's faces.

We held our Basket Benefit in conjunction with the Easter Scavenger Hunt. Thank you to the following area businesses and families who donated items or baskets for our Basket Benefit: No Limit Hair Design, Woodford State Bank, House to Home Designs, Pizza Hut, Martin's Sport Shop, The Green Door, Colony Brands, Safe Kids, Becky Lehman Family, Joe and Laura Solawetz Family, Anytime Fitness, Breadon Family, Brennan's, Dairy Queen, Dilly Bean, Dollar General, First National Bank and Trust, Heartland Graphics, Klondike Cheese, Leisure Lanes, Linda Gavigan, Luecke's Diamond Center, Maple Leaf Cheese, McDonald's, Minhas Craft Brewery, Panchos and Lefty's, Papa Murphy's, Pizza Hut, Suisse Haus, Wisconsin Cheese Group, Janet Hauri, Sandi Nelson Family, Wisconsin Bank and Trust, Hannah Wichmann Family, Family Video, Das Baumhaus, Amber Kuebli Family and MHS Sports teams (Football, Cross Country, Boys and Girls Basketball, and Soccer). It was a successful fundraiser for our department. We raised $1,300 for the disc golf course at Twining Park.
