Some questions for those who think people like me have always been "way too political:"
How did I correctly predict that if Bush Jr. was elected we'd be at war with Iraq, our budget surplus would be gone within a year, and that our economy would collapse if he was re-elected?
How did I correctly predict during the Clinton administration that if he raised taxes the economy would boom, and that the Republicans' "Contract With America" would lead to an extremist right wing take over of our government which would in turn lead to voter suppression, and all-out wars on women's rights, education, workers, the elderly and the poor?
How did I correctly predict during the Bush Sr. administration that if we didn't take money out of politics it was just a matter of time before corporations controlled the government?
How did I correctly predict during the Reagan administration that trickle-down economics and union-busting would result in the demise of the middle class, and that closing mental institutions would result in rampant mental illness in this country?
How did I correctly predict during the Carter administration that we'd be facing ongoing wars, water shortages and catastrophic global economic and environmental ruin if we didn't transition off of fossil fuels?
I'm certainly not clairvoyant.
Maybe the truth is I'm not too political ... maybe I'm just very observant, possess common sense, and really do love my country, and care about its citizens, our planet, our survival, our welfare, and justice.
Maybe the truth is, I'm not the only one who saw all this coming, and I'm not the only one who tried to wake you up, and I'm not the only one who's so sick and tired of saying "I told you so" that I could just scream.
The truth is, you refused to listen to the voices of reason - and the truth is you probably still do.
And maybe the truth is, it's not my fault this country is in the gigantic mess it's in today on so many levels.
Maybe the truth is, all of this is your fault. Not mine. You ignored us. And you let it all happen.
