Monroe

To the editor:

Growing up on a small dairy farm in Argyle taught me the value of hard work and an education.

Gaining the skills to succeed in today's world has never been more important for our students and it's critical that we do all we can to provide opportunities for our young people to grow and excel.

I have two children currently attending schools in the district, so I've gained perspective about our schools not only through community involvement, but also as a parent.

I firmly believe that our schools are the "heart" of economic development in our area, and necessary for recruitment efforts and growth of local businesses. All across this country, great schools are the cornerstone of great communities, and Monroe is no different. Whether families are considering Monroe as their new home, or have lived in Monroe for generations, how we educate our young people is of critical importance to our residents.

Without question, our Board of Education needs to be fiscally responsible, using taxpayer resources appropriately to provide the very best education to our students.

Because of my track record of involvement in Green County Leaders, Green County Development Corporation, the Monroe Chamber of Commerce, Monroe Kiwanis and other local organizations, I believe I can provide leadership and expertise to the Monroe School Board, and help continue the collaborative effort with the community that was begun by the Say YES. To Monroe Schools effort I was a part of last fall.

Like districts across the State of Wisconsin, the School District of Monroe faces many challenges, and will soon transition to a new superintendent. This is no small task and incredibly important for our community. A successful transition to a new superintendent will have a positive impact on the entire district, and ultimately, our community.

I have been overwhelmed with the community support I've received since deciding to run for this position. If elected, I look forward to the opportunity to serve the Monroe school board, the School District of Monroe, and the community that is now my home, and am committed to doing my very best to make our schools better each and every day.

Please consider supporting me as a candidate for the Monroe School Board on Tuesday, April 4.
