From Sue Curran
Board of Directors, Loaves and Fishes Monroe
To the editor:
The board of directors of Loaves and Fishes Community Meal of Green County would like to thank Santos and Maribel Tinoco and other members of Monroe's Latino-American community for planning our menu and preparing our February meal. Tacos, hand-rolled tamales, rice and beans, a fruit salad of apple and guava, and caramel flan were enjoyed by a record crowd.
We were entertained by a traditional Mexican dance troupe from Freeport.
We'd also like to express our gratitude for continued support from our sponsors who make our efforts possible. Also a huge thanks to our regular volunteers and special guest volunteers who help cook, serve and clean up at each meal.
Our mission to create community through food and fellowship was truly illustrated at this meal. We serve a home-cooked meal on the fourth Sunday of each month at Grace Lutheran Church from 4 to 6 p.m. There is never a cost to our guests and all are welcome.
