To the editor:

I have never felt a reason to write to you before as I believe we all have a right to our opinions. However, an article from Dan Wegmueller about "bikers" vs. "motorcyclists" really irritated and offended me. From what I've seen on Facebook, quite a few others have been offended by this individual as well. Way to shore up your image with the locals.

If one of your people is going to write a column like this, they should have more knowledge about what they are writing or you should be more cognizant of the potential backlash of allowing a column such as this to print in the paper. Yes Dan, I can use "big words" too.

He writes "If you have read this far, you are not a biker. A biker is still on the first paragraph trying to enunciate the word 'sincerity'." Could this possible be more insulting? I'll have you know that I grew up with bikers, my father being one as well. I guarantee you that my father had more college education, life experience and intelligence than Dan Wegmueller will ever hope to have. (His column proved that.) These awful "bikers" that he alludes to are the people that I know to give someone the shirt off their back if they needed it. They have done thousands of rides raising money for various charities, expecting nothing in return. They are some of the first that would stop on the road to help a person in trouble. As far as I am concerned, I would take a "biker" over someone like Dan Wegmueller any day of the week.

Things like this just shows the ignorance and intolerance that is so predominate in this world now days and I am appalled that you would allow one of your own to show it so publicly.
