To the editor:
When reading recently that Rep. Todd Novak was working to get more milk money for the Monroe School District, it came to me that I know where this missing milk money has gone.
It's over at the unaccountable private schools that Rep. Novak and Sen Marklein sent it to. Millions and millions of tax dollars we want to go to public schools is sent to private schools by these two guys.
And with the new budget it gets worse. Working people in Green County are subsidizing parents in other counties to send their kids to private schools and on top of that you lose again because they get a generous tax deduction.
My grandson has played basketball against some of these private schools from Fond du Lac to North of Milwaukee. In my opinion they are segregated schools. And that's where the milk money goes.
In an email from my Sen. Jon Erpenbach, Voucher students will receive at least $1,000 more from the state at private schools than they will at public schools. Public school students will receive an average of $6,700 and Private School students will get up to $8,403.
My Rep. Sondy Pope said, "It's time to stop making handouts to voucher lobbyists a higher priority than our constitutional responsibility to hundreds of thousands of kids in public schools."
