It's decision time for local schools

It would appear at this writing that Gov. Walker 's budget repair bill and budget will soon be reality. The question I have is how - as residents of Argyle, Hollandale, Blanchardville, and yes Black Hawk - what do we do now?

As the fighting intensified at the Capitol and went back and forth, I realized that eventually there would be a winner and loser . Or did we all lose and nobody won? Maybe we all won and nobody lost?

Now I understand the locals, county, township, villages, and school boards will be the fall guys. Need more money - Walker says we are broke. So if our schools need money to, say fix a roof, the voters get to decide. Maybe that's good ... or wait ... isn't that the school board's job? Now it's the voters'. Those school board people, always spending money for those kids. Can you imagine? Parents wanting something better for their kids -imagine that?

Will this new legislation be the demise of small rural schools? Maybe, maybe not. We are at decision time folks, and I believe that the people in a position to do so better start talking serious. Now. All things on the table, except our kids and grandkids -'cause whatever gets done , or is done, it should be in their best interests.
