National Cover the Uninsured Week is this week, beginning on March 22nd and ending on March 28th. In hundreds of communities throughout the nation, events are being planned to highlight the fact that too many of us live without health care coverage. As the cost of health care continues to rise, fewer businesses, individuals and families find it affordable. The loss of jobs and the downturn of the economy have contributed to the increasing numbers of those who now find themselves without coverage. It is a problem that affects all of us.
The Green County Coalition to Cover the Uninsured is extending an invitation to the community to attend, "Neighbors helping Neighbors" an event to be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 27, at Monroe Clinic's clinic building in Founders Hall. This event will include presentations highlighting changes in BadgerCare Plus, as well as an introduction of some new free dental and health clinics that will be available for those who reside in Green County. Legislators or their representative also will be attending this event and will be available to listen to your concerns and answer questions In addition; information on available resources in Green County will be available.
Neighbor helping Neighbor is a collaborative effort of members of the Cover the Uninsured Coalition of Green County and include representatives from Green County Health Department, Green County Human Services, Monroe Chamber of Commerce, Monroe Clinic, St. Vincent DePaul, Southwest Wisconsin Community Action Program, The Monroe Times, United Way of Green County and UW Extension of Green County.
