Year-end reflections from NGSD
New Glarus Knights Logo

As 2025 comes to a close and we look ahead to the start of a new year, the New Glarus School District is reflecting on another year of strong student achievement, growth, and success across academics, the arts, activities, and athletics. Below are a few of the highlights:

●  Overall grade of an A for the District by Niche.com.  Niche ranked New Glarus School District as the 24th best school district in the State of Wisconsin.

●  In January, the District released its School Perceptions data.  The highlights included the following:

     ○  High student engagement with 98% of students reporting they try their best at school.

     ○  High staff engagement with 99% of staff reporting that they look forward to going to work and 97% reporting that the district operates as a team. Additionally, 98% of staff agree that the district is heading in the right direction, and 100% express pride in the accomplishments of the District. There was also strong support from families with 96% feeling welcome at school and 94% feeling their student is safe.

●  In April, the District passed a recurring referendum that replaced the previous non-recurring referendum.

●  In July, the District reported strong results on the Class of 2025 Senior exit surveys. Highlights include over 97% of graduates felt their teachers were knowledgeable about the curriculum and over 95% of graduates felt they had access to a broad range of electives in academics, the arts, and extracurriculars. Additionally, over 95% of graduates felt that the school provided a safe and drug-free environment.

●  In November, the Wisconsin State Report Cards were released and the New Glarus School District was rated as Significantly Exceeds Expectations, the highest level awarded. This was the first time the District reached this level.

●  Through the support and donations of the community, the District is very close to moving forward with the construction of the bathroom and concessions building at the Athletic Complex.

These results are a testament to the hard work of our students and staff, as well as the support of our families and community.  “These accomplishments reflect the collective commitment of our students, staff, families, and community,” said Dr. Jennifer Thayer, New Glarus School District Superintendent. “As we close out 2025, we are proud of how far we have come and hope to continue building on this momentum in the new year.”

As a District, the support of families and the community is very important and appreciated. The District is committed to giving back to our community through the following ways:

● Providing service days and opportunities for students to help community members

●  Coordinating food drives and collaborating with Caring for Kids to ensure our families have the essentials they need.

●  Sharing the talents of our students, musicians, artists, and athletes with the community.

To the New Glarus community, the District appreciates your support, and we thank you for making 2025 a great year for the school district. We are looking forward to continuing to build on that momentum in 2026.
