Elizabeth McGuire, 2019 Fairest of the Fair

Hello, my name is Elizabeth McGuire, daughter of Alan and Marcia McGuire. I am a former graduate from Brodhead High School. Currently, I am a sophomore attending the University of Wisconsin-Platteville with a double major in agricultural education and technology education.

After graduation, I plan to become an agricultural and vocational technology teacher at the middle and high school levels.

I am honored to be given the opportunity to represent my county and the Green County Fair at the state Fairest of the Fair competition in January. I would like to send out a big thank you to the Green County Fair board and sponsors for the exciting year I have ahead of me. This year I am excited for what our fair has to offer. Aside from the animal shows taking place throughout the fair, we have a numerous amount of activities to take part in.

The fair starts Wednesday, July 17 with our military appreciation day. On that day, gate admission is free with a military ID. Come that night to see the CC Bull Riding and Barrel Racing at 7 p.m. in the grandstands. Thursday, we have one of my personal favorites, the Badger State Truck and Tractor Pull starting at 6:30 p.m. On Friday, bring the kids from 3 to 6 p.m. to see Wisconsin’s spud mobile. The spud mobile is a larger than life potato that drives. It teaches children all about potatoes with fun interactive games. Saturday I am looking forward to the draft horse pulls starting at 1 p.m., Chris Kroeze from The Voice at 8 p.m. and ending the night with a firework show. Sunday, I hope to see everyone at the cheese and dairy youth auction and the demolition derby!

For a list of more events, go to the Green County Fair website at greencountyfair.net. This year is going to be one for the record books; and did I mention that all the grandstand events are free with paid admission?
