Greg Anderson Band will be missed

To the editor:

Two busloads of polka-loving fans just returned from a two-day, fun-filled trip to a polka party at the Kahler Grand Hotel in Rochester, Minn. The Greg Anderson Band had been asked to participate in their 24th year of Dancing Weekends, and we, his faithful followers, were so proud of him and his band's performance. Greg, Jim Feuling (his horn player) and John Remy (drummer) were so well received. Each of their four time slots were so well attended and appreciated by loyal polka fans from all over the USA.

When asked where we were all from, the answer was: "Monroe, Wisconsin." Many of these dancers have promised to come to Turner Hall and the New Glarus Hotel next month. Seeing these dancers on the weekly "Molly B Polka Party" on RFD-TV made us all feel we know each other. I got told quite often "I knew you would be here."

Greg will retire the Greg Anderson Band as of New Year's Eve 2012. He will then be able to spend more time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by all of us, as a musician on stage, but he has made so many friends during his past 40-plus years who will keep in touch with him. His philosophy of keeping "live music alive" will always remain in his heart.

Turner Hall recognized his loyalty to his roots during their Swiss Night program Sunday night, which was quite an emotional time for many people hearing it.

His faithful followers - Joe Urban used to call us GAFF for "Greg Anderson Faithful Followers" - will never forget this wonderful young man, and he constantly thanks them for their support at every dance, and has certain songs for each one that he plays.

Your music will be missed, Greg... and GAFF approves this message.
