Glass-Steagall Act should be reinstated

What should a voter expect from candidates running for office and already in office? They don't have any resume on the economy which you should find on the Web. A lot of politicians used to have separate e-mail addresses where you could e-mail them an article from another Web site. Now, they have forms on their Web site so you can write them a letter, but you can't e-mail them an article.

I type in - "Does anybody in Congress believe in reinstating the Glass-Steagall Act?" If they have a resume on issues of importance, you would think something would come up, but nothing does. They're spending a lot of taxpayer money to bail out Wall Street and the banks because, while the banks used to have some regulations, they have pretty well done away with most of them and they call that free enterprise until they get in trouble.

The Business Week front cover of July 28, 2008, shows a picture of a snake in a circle eating itself and the caption inside the circle says, "How Wall Street Ate the Economy and What Happens Now." There was a series of articles and this is a quote from one of them, "Banks live on the stuff: When they post profits, they borrow more money to make more loans and book still more profits. During the boom, bigger mortgage loans pumped up home prices until people couldn't handle the debt and the bubble burst."

After what happened in the 1930s, when the banks got in bed with Wall Street, which is exactly what is happening today, is the exact reason why they never should have gotten rid of the Glass-Steagall Act, which keeps the commercial banks separate from the investment banks. When you type in - Glass-Steagall, don't you think someone should have it on their resume and say yes, we do believe in reinstating it? They are just playing a game of ignorance and to me it looks like a lot of greed and corruption. If you think this letter makes any sense, e-mail it to your legislator.
