The Monroe Parks and Recreation Department would like to thank all the people, service organizations and businesses who made the Fourth of July a successful event. We had 10 service organizations and 10 area businesses contribute more than $2,000 toward the carnival games, the horse and wagon rides and the entertainment equipment. Thanks to these organizations and businesses, everyone, young and old, enjoyed the activities on July 4th.

There were 40 area businesses and three service organizations that contributed more than $4,200 toward the T-shirts for the volunteers who worked at the activities and concessions and toward the T-shirts for the first-place teams in the coed slowpitch tournaments and coed volleyball tournaments.

We would like to thank the 400 volunteers who volunteered their time to work at the activities and concessions that day, and those who donated items for the concession stand and carnival games. We would like to thank our staff, the Park Department staff, the umpires, scorekeepers and the supervisors for all their time and effort to make the Fourth of July an enjoyable day for all.
