Family-friendly idea for old Walmart building

What could be done with the old Walmart building? Here's an idea worth throwing out there: How about a family fun center taking over that space?

Wouldn't an indoor/outdoor miniature golf course be a nice fit? A rock climbing wall, bouncing ball tent, video games, batting cages and a basketball court included, as well. Having a pizza joint like a Rocky Rococo's, in the old Wendy's location or onsite, would make this a great place for not just birthday parties but for everyday family outings or a place for kids to hang together after school in a fun, safe supervised location. A place where an 8-year-old girl would have as much fun as a 78-year-old grandparent. A place where Mom and Dad can go with the kids, and not worry about a giant mouse getting in their way.

There isn't anything like this around, so instead of having to go to Madison, Freeport or Janesville, let's keep that sense of community and money right here in Monroe and Green County where it belongs. I know this sounds like pie-in-the-sky thinking, but something like this would make sense.

As to whose responsibility this would fall under, I couldn't tell you for sure. Would the City of Monroe run the facility or would a private party be better suited? This would be a great way to give back to the community and if done the right way, who knows, maybe it might sway a family to move to this beautiful town of ours. With the great job that the Parks and Recreation Department, as well as the Streets Department do with the pool, festivals and all of our parks, this would be another great way to showcase Monroe as a family-friendly city.

I'm not trying to tell either Wal-Mart or the City what to do, of course, as this is just an idea I thought would be of great value to the community.
