Even: Ambassadors take important role

"Great things are not done by impulse, but by a series of small things brought together." - Vincent Van Gogh

I am not normally one to go around quoting famous artists. I am more of a movie quote kind of person. I can't remember the first time I heard this quote, and it has been frequenting my Linked In feed lately. It reminds me that there are many working components to accomplish any goal. One component that can't get enough recognition in the Monroe Chamber of Commerce is the group known as the Ambassadors. I am so very fond of them and I could not be prouder to be associated with them. They are a very diverse group that brings so much talent and skill not only to the Chamber of Commerce but to the Monroe community as well. They are unbelievably giving of their time and talent.

The role of an Ambassador is described as follows.

"The Ambassadors are a group of knowledgeable volunteers serving in a year-round effort as representatives for the Monroe Chamber of Commerce and acting as a conduit between the Chamber and its existing and new members.

"Ambassadors aid the Chamber with membership retention by making personal calls to member decision-makers. Ambassadors encourage members to become involved in the Chamber and assist members in learning more about the Chamber. Ambassadors will inform and receive feedback on Chamber activities and programs.

"Additional voluntary activities include serving as greeters at Business After 5, participating in ribbon cuttings and various activities such as the Stateline Business Expo, Golf Tournament and Annual Meeting."

So behind the wonderful smiles in the Cookie Patrol photos that we all have become so fond of seeing is a very dedicated group of individuals giving their time to help their business owners succeed as well as contributing to all of us. They give not for their own self-promotion. They give for the continued success of the companies they work for, for the strength of the Monroe economy and for the betterment of our community.

As you interact with them in your day-to-day lives, I hope you see them in the same way I do. Our current Ambassador group consists of: Erik Haworth, Thrivent Financial; Val Johnson, Woodford State Bank; Brenda Kulow-King, Kim Markham and Jessica Bystry, Colony Brands; Jon Pfarr, Send Out Cards; Doug Sutter, Keller Inc., Megan Wells, BNG, Sugar River Bank; Dawn Mulligan, Hughes Resources; Michelle Hansen, Sedona Staffing; Jean Sinkule and Troy Labarge, Old National Bank; Patrick Bodell and Kyle Hartley, Synqronous Communications; Matt Johnson, Morris Media; Lori VanNatta, Wisconsin Bank and Trust; and Mandy Johnson, Town Bank.

So I thank you, Ambassadors, for all the things you do in front of the public as well as behind the scenes. I am sure there are things you take on every day that we are not even aware of and that is what makes it even more important for you to get a little extra spotlight on you and your efforts. I also want to thank their employers for finding the importance in what they do. You are sharing some of your greatest talent with the rest of us. And to the coworkers of the Ambassadors, thank you for taking on some extra responsibilities if needed while they are away.
