Esther Tamling-Seffrood: Donate items to charity, not landfill
Placeholder Image
Soon it will be spring cleanup time again. I have not heard of any change in city policy on fines for people who pick up items off the terrace, so I am asking people to take into consideration what they throw out.

If they have good and usable items, such as furniture, clothing, household items, etc., please donate them to charitable organizations. There is nothing to lose from taking your baby's clothing and good usable items to Care Net, as opposed to throwing those items out on the curb. Be a hero. You are, when you give to someone in need.

If you have good usable furniture, call us, we will take it to the Bridge Ministry in Freeport, which provides for families in need. You can get a tax receipt for your donations.

I urge you to call us, if you have good usable items you would like to get rid of. Don't just fill up the landfill site. If you have clothing, it can go to people in need. We sent six full van/truck loads to Kenya last year.

Yes, you can be a hero. Yes, you can make a difference in someone's life.

Don't just throw it out if it is good. You can help and I urge you to do so. Someday it may be you in need, and you will be thankful for those who seek to give.
