To the editor,

April 8 is celebrated by Christians around the globe as Easter Sunday, sometimes called Resurrection Sunday. According to the Scriptures (Bible) Jesus Christ was crucified unto death and rose unto life by many infallible proofs. One account is in the Gospel of John, chapter 20, of doubting Thomas who witnessed Jesus suffering and agonizing death by being nailed to a Roman cross.

Thomas was not present when the other disciples told him they had seen their resurrected Lord, consequently he did not believe their account. So Thomas said to them, "Unless I see in His hands the print of the nails......and put my hand into His side, I will not believe." After 8 days Jesus came once again to the group including Thomas and said to him, "Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach your hand here, and put it into My side. Do not be unbelieving, but believing." And Thomas answered and said to Him, "My Lord and my God!" Jesus said to him, "Thomas, because you have seen Me you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."

Jesus claimed to be God who became a man, not part God, a lesser god, or one of many gods. The glorious fact that Jesus Christ rose from the dead proved He was who He claimed to be. He has authority in Heaven and on earth, authority over death, hell and the grave! He is the Savior of all who believe and put their trust in Him.

History records the early church greeting one another by saying, "He has risen, He has risen indeed!" Happy Easter from Mark and Linda Wells.
