A special thank you goes out to members and leaders of the City Band and the Main Street group for some wonderful summer entertainment. Hats off to the dedicated leaders and members of the city band who perform on the hottest days, with the greatest of zeal. The Concerts on the Square have been equally enjoyable. I really like the west side location.
I do have one concern. Why can't the concerts be scheduled so there is an event each week, rather than two on one week and none the next week? I'm assuming that as they are free, there isn't any "competition" for money or audiences.
Realistically, most people are a bit too busy to attend a concert twice in one week. If they were spread out, I would think it would make it easier for the public. I know that there were several times that I was in town on a week of no concert, and the next week when I was gone I had to miss two, which was very disappointing.
Wouldn't it be possible for the leaders of the two groups to sit down and work out a schedule that would benefit all the community? The City Band plays on the week of the 4th ... perhaps that could be a place to start? I hope that some communication between the leaders is possible as the entertainment is top notch, and it would be in everyone's best interest to keep the attendance high.
Thank you for a summer of wonderful music.
