I would like to send a huge blossom to the MHS marching band. It was wonderful to see you marching in the Lena Fall Festival parade this year. As a former MHS band member, I know the amount of work it takes. You looked and sounded great. Many kudos and blossoms to you - I have heard many Lena residents say how nice it was to see Monroe represented in the parade this year. Great job. - Anonymous

A huge polka-dotted blossom to the Greg Anderson band. On Wednesday, Sept. 14, his band and two busloads of followers traveled to Rothschild to tape polkas and waltzes for the future Molly B.'s Polka shows on RFD-TV. The phrase: "Here is the Greg Anderson Band from Monroe, Wisconsin" was said by Molly B. frequently. Greg's band played "God Bless America" as all of the dancers joined hands and formed five huge circles and sang the words. This part might not have been taped because the young men running the cameras stopped their work and joined the circle of singers. Greg has played "God Bless America" in this manner at every performance since 9/11. - Donna Ditzenberger

A huge blossom to everyone who made Monroe Garden Club's spaghetti supper another success. Thanks to our host, Pizza Hut, the Moose Lodge and their kitchen helpers; and all the extra helpers who took time off from their busy schedules to help us. Also, thanks to Culligan Water Service. Thanks to everyone who purchased tickets and cookbooks and gave donations. All of you have helped to give back to our community. - Monroe Garden Club

A blossom to M.E. McKnight. A couple of weeks ago, I read your blossom about our President Obama. It was sure encouraging to finally read something positive about the man and the mess he inherited. He seems to be trying very hard; wish he would just get a little help. Thanks again. Richard would be very proud of you. - Fellow Dems Evelyn, Jo and Laney Marty

A barb to all the junk mail people seem to be getting. Raise postal stamps to 50 cents - make all pay the same price - and we could save all our post offices. The Republican party has been sending everyone letters for donations to help defeat Obama. They need more money like I need more pounds. - Laney Marty

A very big blossom to Tere Dunlap for her story on E. coli on Sept. 15, in the Monroe paper.

A huge barb to Green County Health Department Director RoAnn Warden for not giving out any info to her local paper, for her local residents to read. Don't we need to be informed? She gave information to the Capital Times website, and that evening I'm watching her on Channel 3 news. What gives? You couldn't give info locally? - Nicki R.

A big blossom to Dave Soderberg for organizing and directing the recent OWI educational program presented for area high school students at the Monroe High School Performing Arts Center, and a big blossom to a host of volunteers who made it all possible. There were a number of volunteers from the Monroe Clinic medical community, our local fire department, EMS services and local law enforcement departments that participated. This dramatic and realistic performance demonstrated the very real dangers of drinking and driving to our young drivers. The program is all too real for those of us who have to deal with the often tragic consequences of irresponsible behavior. Hopefully, the lessons learned from the program will prevent more than a few accidents in the future. Residents can be proud of the community effort that went into this program. - Judge James Beer, Green County Circuit Court Branch 1, and Judge Tom Vale, Green County Circuit Court Branch 2
