A barb to all those people who bring their dogs to Cheese Days. Two years ago, many people brought their big dogs with and walked them around the square. While most dogs were civil towards each other and people, some did not like the large crowds or the other dogs around and that caused barking and growling. I don't mind dogs, but I'm mostly afraid of them. I think they should stay home and have no business being at a large event like this. In fact, I just heard on WEKZ that this weekend at the Lena Fall Festival "no pets are allowed downtown during the event unless they are service dogs." Perhaps this should be determined the same at Cheese Days. I know that I and others would feel safer without a big hairy threat running around while I try to enjoy my weekend. - Scared of dogs

This is a huge blossom to the Juda Fore Father Day organizers in Juda for putting on one of the best rides I have ever been on. (I ride 25-35,000 miles a year.) Also a huge blossom to the Juda FFA alumni for cooking some of the best chicken I ever had. Great job guys. There is only one very large barb I want to give and that goes to the bar for raising the cost of the warmest beer I ever had at 5 p.m. the day of the ride and for the way you talked to the FFA advisor that great afternoon over something so stupid. So organizer have another nonprofit group of up your own beer garden. See you next year. - Love to Ride Dave

A barb to political callers. The phone calls from supporters of candidates for state and national offices are annoying to say the least. Since these calls are recorded messages, I can't even tell these people their calls irritate and inconvenience me to the extent that I won't vote for the candidate they are promoting. - Marlene Schmalbeck

A barb to the Green County Humane Society. I let the first ad in the Pet of the Week slide as you advertised a male unaltered pit bull mix that you had for three weeks needing a home Then on Saturday Aug. 7 Pet of the Week once again lists an unaltered dog in need of a good home - are you trying to keep your dog numbers up?? Seems to me it would make more sense to update your animal website weekly vs. the months since any new dogs have been added. You might also try to actually publish the bi-monthly newsletter vs. only one so far this year. Might increase your donations - just a couple of thoughts?? - Thoughtful pet owner of three shelter animals
