A special blossom to the Friends in Faith Ministry of the Monroe United Methodist Church for arranging the "Where the Past Meets the Present" presentation on Thursday afternoon of last week. Another blossom to all of those who attended the presentation, made donations, bought raffle tickets, and became members of the historical society. The historical society greatly appreciates all of the support it receives from the community. - Green County Historical Society

Romney seems a decent church-going man. But a barb to his policies. My dad lived through the Great Depression and WWII; he described to us how big business-driven policies hurt the average taxpayer. And how much responsibility for all this falls to House Finance Chair Ryan for allowing two wars to be "put on the credit card?" - R.J. Bell, South Wayne

A blossom to those of you in the 47 percent who don't pay federal taxes who are voting or Mitt Romney. It's about time you realize you aren't paying your fair share. You know who you area: all you retired people on Social Security, military personnel serving our country, disabled or handicapped people on disability, a family of making $50,000 a year or less - you know, the freeloaders. - A taxpayer

A huge blossom to The Monroe High School Vocal Music Department and director Judy Bennett. Their "Tribute to America and to Our Veterans" on Nov. 1 was very well done and appreciated by many! - All veterans
