Blossoms & Barbs: May 8, 2010

Barbs to The Monroe Times. Two things I haven't been bale to appreciate at all. (1) Throwing food in someone's face, especially in a school. That surely doesn't teach the students much especially in this day with so much hunger. (2) Those eating contests to see who can "wolf" down the most in the least time with no table manners at all. Now with so many hungry people, I find these two even more offensive than before. - Erma Klassy

A huge blossom to all the people of Monroe on the vote to oust Mark Coplien and Mayor Marsh. We residents have spoken. Mr. Marsh, as far as I'm concerned, you didn't do nearly enough to bring industrial jobs into the city. Thanks voters. - Dean Markee

A huge bouquet to the community of Monroe: Thank you to all the businesses, service organizations, Father Campion and parents that help made Monroe Post Prom 2010 a huge success. With your generous donations of money, prizes, food and time we were able to provide a fun filled safe night for our children. Over 310 Monroe high school students attended the festivities which were held at SLICE after prom. Special thanks to all the parents who donated money or gave of their time to help make this event a success. It is an honor to call Monroe home, when so many people in our community put kids first. - Jenny Moehn and Barb McArdle, co-chairs

A blossom to the Juda Class of 2011 parents for making post prom a huge success. A special thank you to Yvonne DeVoe and Heidi Miller for helping us out. We could not have done it without all your help. Also we would like to thank the Class of 2011 for all your hard work and dedication you put into making prom a night to remember. The gym looked awesome. We are so proud of all of you. - The Juda Post Prom Committee

A barb to The Monroe Times, they seem be to be getting later and later with posting things on (its Web site.) Obituaries and news are posted on the Madison Web sites hours before here. And even these comments take forever. - Emily

A blossom to the community of Monroe. Your kind hearts you displayed for the benefit for the Moyer and Becker families over this weekend was one of the proudest moments I've had as a member of this community. To Cody and all the others who helped organize and run this benefit I tip my hat to you and say great job. To the local business community you all came together and helped show why this really is a great place to live. To all those folks who ate, participated in the raffle and donated you are a great bunch and should be proud of yourself. It's people like Cody, the Gombosi's and all the others who helped make this town a winner. I want to once again pass along to the families just how many people loved and cared for you kids. We will continue to keep you and your children in our thoughts and prayers. - T. Wilkens
