Also, a blossom to all who attended the fundraiser pancake breakfast at the Juda School, >who then purchased items or donated money to the bake sale. Your generosity made this event such a success!
P.S.: Thanks to Tony and Jarrett Kelly for attending the bake sale along with Ali, a playful dog from the Green County Humane Society. Ali and Liz Burnette, a Green County Humane Society volunteer, were definitely the hits of the day! - Cheryl Bechtolt>
A barb to professional athletes.> Reading the article about Prince Fielder on his salary with the Brewers was pretty alarming. He had a great year and a sizable raise, better than $200,000, and he complains. I wonder if he knows what a pauper is? These pro athletes and movie stars are all out of line, in my opinion, as they seem to be out of touch with reality with the real world. If most people can't afford their line of livelihood, maybe someday they'll feel the pinch, too. If they have to work a more laborious life, maybe they wouldn't complain so much. - Merlyn G. Nenneman, Brodhead>
Another barb to Mayor Marsh and Chuck Koch >for the sidewalk project. "Disgusted taxpayer (March 1) was exactly right, stating the unnecessary need for sidewalks when not needed. It's extra big expense for installation and maintaining in the winter for the public to use. - Another disgusted taxpayer in Monroe>

A blossom to Monroe Middle School students and teacher Deb Freitag >for an excellent lesson in volunteering. This is one of the things I truly am proud of in this area, as I am sure others are, is the willingness of our communities and our youth to not only step outside the box, but to also throw the box away and increase their boundaries. Excellent job everyone!
A blossom to the Green County Dairy Queens >for continuing to promote and educate our youth and others in the value of agriculture and its products in our community. Good job, girls. Keep it up!
A blossom to the Black Hawk girls basketball team, and the Monroe boys and girls >for continuing to show poise, sportsmanship, determination and enthusiasm as they continue their postseason play. Keep it up!
A blossom to all the fans, officiating crews, bus drivers and parents> for providing the cheers and transportation to the games and to make sure the games are played fair.
