A huge blossom to the drivers that deliver home delivered meals in Monroe. They are very dedicated. Even some businesses are helping out - Swiss Colony, Woodford Bank and Walmart. I wish there were more people to help out the home-bound and elderly. A big blossom to the gals that help in the kitchen and dining room. There are only five wonderful ladies that help. If anyone would like to join them, please call 328-9368, 328-9396 or 328-9364. - Carol and Mary Lou

Blossoms to Brodhead for putting their foot down to the school boards. It will be said if sports are really cut because they don't know how to manage money. The flip side of this is that maybe the kids will really learn something in classes now and not just receive a "grade" to keep them in sports. Brodhead is consumed more with wins and conference titles than grades. Besides you also have to have a certain name in order to play sports in Brodhead regardless of everyone paying their fees to participate. I paid for my kids to participate in three different sports while in middle school and high school and they never really had a chance to play and show what they could accomplish because the big names played the games. When they were sure they were winning and with just a few minutes left in a game they'd then get a chance to play. I say if a kid pays their fee to play a sport, then use them all and see what they could do. That's my reasoning behind not paying more money to the schools now. They gladly took my money for all those sports for seven years and my kids didn't get the chance then and so where did my money go? I have no more kids attending Brodhead and I know it's not the way to look at it now, but what was the thinking behind only certain kids playing even though us little people paid the price? The little people are finally getting to see the heartache now on the "big names." - Anonymous

An Irish barb to the Public Works Department. Put March 17 on your 2011 calendar to sweep and wash the Square pavement before the parade. I was ashamed. - An Irishman

A barb to Citizen for stating "They say that small class size contributes to improved performance but there are studies that refute this position," and not backing that up. Obviously, this person really isn't in the know and doesn't really think educating our kids is that important. - Anonymous
