A blossom to Susan Leer. >You are a single mom and, from your blossom you deserve one yourself for teaching your kids about the true meaning of Christmas. One does not need material things for it to be a happy time over the holidays. I wish you many more happy holidays for you and yours. - Dan R.>

I'd like to give a huge blossom to the Monroe Christmas Stocking Fund> for helping out with my family's Christmas this year. Times are very tough for my husband and I right now (as they are for a lot of people) and it gave us a little relief to know that "someone" out there was going to help give our kids a Christmas. It's very hard to admit to yourself sometimes that you need help and it's even harder to bite the bullet and accept that help, but we knew we had to do what we could for our kids. Why should they have to go without because of their parents' foolish pride? Thank God that the Christmas Stocking was there to provide gifts as well as two boxes of food for us, and boots/shoes for the boys. And an extra blossom within this blossom to Sue, >our appointed shopper, for doing a great job with the things she picked out for the boys. They really enjoyed their gifts! Thank you to all the volunteers who helped spread a little holiday cheer this season to those of us who really cherished the help. God Bless! - A Grateful Monroe Resident>

I would like to send a blossom to the staff at Alphorn Ford. >I bought a new car from them and a week later I found out I was pregnant. They worked with me to find a car (OK, so it's a mini-van) that would fit our growing family as well as our budget. I would especially like to thank Mike Kail for making it fun to buy a car. Keep up the good work! - Trina>

This is a barb to The Monroe Times. >I love reading your paper, and I am from Monroe but live outside of Brodhead. I am frustrated because of the availability of getting the Times in the Brodhead area. The newspaper machines I find are either empty or have one or two papers in them. On Saturday, I had to stop at four different places to find the paper and it was only 2 in the afternoon. Even the stores and the gas stations are running out. Can you please supply more papers so that I do not have to run all over to find one? I really do not mind getting one without a subscription, but I do not want to run all over to find one. - Upset>

A blossom to all those who clear the sidewalks >and make it safe for our kids to go back and forth to school. A barb to those who have yet to clear their sidewalks of the ice. The ice came down Saturday night/Sunday morning and you've yet to clear it off. It's Jan. 7, you should know better. The reason I bring this up I saw a youngster take a dive this morning on a slick sidewalk on his way to school while on the way to drop mine off. If you can't do it yourself, that's fine. Ask a neighbor to give you a hand. Most will do so with a smile. Meanwhile, the police should hand out some tickets to these folks while on patrol in the neighborhoods. - T. Wilkens>
