Editor's Note: >The Monroe Times ran a correction on the mistake in the Feb. 4 edition.
A barb to the City of Monroe.> Monroe has a snow ordinance. You have 24 hours to comply with the ordinance, or the snow will be removed by the city at your expense. Notice was left on Jan. 23. On Jan. 24, a violation was issued - a $20 fine. If this fine is not paid in 14 days, you may file for a court hearing. If not contested, the Department of Transportation will suspend and refuse to renew registration of any owned vehicle if you fail to pay the citation within 28 days from the date of the citation. The Police Department was called on Friday, Feb. 8, days after a heavy snowfall, that the sidewalk of city property had not been shoveled off. On Monday, Feb. 11, the deep snow was still there. The deep snow was on both sides of a city parking lot. Senior citizens had shoveled their snow on both sides of the city property. The city has expensive equipment to remove the snow. The seniors used a shovel, and they are still waiting for the city to clear off the snow between their properties. - A concerned senior>
A blossom to the Green County highway crews. >This past Sunday the roads were so good in Green County, we deciced to travel to Sauk City to visit my daughter. Once we crossed the Dane County line on Highway 69 the roads were ice covered and dangerous. After seeing an SUV go into the ditch, we turned around and came home. Thank you, Green County highway crews for all you do to keep the roads in good shape! - Esther Tamling-Seffrood, Monroe>
A big blossom to the click.> We truly appreciate the snow removal and the thoughtfulness. Thanks! - Greg and Diana Clark, Monticello>
