A barb to the City of Monroe >for canceling Spring Clean-up Days. Not everyone has their own truck to take the items away themselves. What will be canceled next? -- Anonymous<>

A huge barb to the Monroe Police Department >for not able to help me and explain the problem I had with a calendar parking ticket I got an few weeks ago. I asked the lady at the front office for help, and she flat out said,"Nothing I can do about it," was too busy on the phone. There happened to be an officer standing right there, and he could have helped me out, but he didn't do that. Guess that officer was too lazy to help me out; he was just standing there and drinking coffee. The reason I am writing this is because there is an guy who lives across the street from me and he has a pickup truck that's been parked on the side of the street, not moved, for the past two months or so and he has never gotten a ticket. I am sure he hasn't, because there is no way he would be able to afford a ticket every day for at least two months. I would like to get my money back, but I know it won't happen. Now I know not to turn to the Monroe Police Department for help. I will go to Green County instead. They are more than willing to help out. -- Anonymous>

I would like to give a huge barb to the Monroe Evening Times. >I know for a fact in the past month there has been at least three nonfactual items in the news. If you are going to write an article that will affect public opinion, you should get the facts correct. Do your research. Also, where has the paper been for the news that is meaningful? I am involved in a non-profit organization in the Browntown area, and have requested several times for reporters to come and do articles on the positive things going on in the community. No one has bothered to show or even to call and cancel! Why does our hometown paper concentrate on all the negatives? -- Lori Scott>

An oversized barb goes out to TDS> regarding the change they made (without any customer input) to Gmail. After reading some comments posted here last week, I realize that I am not alone in my frustrations. E-mail used to be quick and easy, almost like it was presorted! Now with the new Gmail, I sort through more than 190 messages a day to decide which ones I want and which ones really are spam. Thank you, TDS, for reminding me that there are other Internet providers in our area! Also, thanks for reminding me that having a cell phone means I no longer need a land line. -- Gene >

Just a second to the blossom sent out to Coach Mortimer. >I, too, had the chance to have Mr. Mortimer as a teacher and learned many important life lessons from him. Good luck, Mr. Mortimer, in your next chapter. -- Karri Walker>

An enormous multi-pointed barb >to TDS! I was beyond PO'd by the stealth Gmail launch. After talking to many techs for hours trying to get back POP e-mail for myself and several friends over the past few weeks, I actually had a TDS tech admit to me that me we were the Beta testing market. Nice. Test failed. Gmail blows! You can add your contacts from your POP email to the Gmail account and it helps some as your contacts won't get spam filtered, but alot of spam still gets through from spammers, even though I've previously reported them AS spam! TDS tells me they know this is happening and the Gmail engineers are still working on it ... yeah, like maybe I'll work on paying my bill next month! So, I have to use filtering on my POP e-mail account plus filtering on my Gmail, which means it takes three times longer now to simply check my e-mail, because I also have a business account with TDS. I feel sorry for the tech support folks, as this was dumped on them, too. -- Mick >

A barb to the Monroe paper. >You print what you want and not what we have to say. Censorship. I know you won¹t print this. It won't surprise me any. --Jon Martin>

A barb also to TDS. >They are going to do what they want. I have a Yahoo mail account just because I had so much trouble in the past with my TDS e-mail account. The Internet service has not been a problem.-- Britany>

Many blossoms to Matt Urban >for standing up to find a solution thinking outside the box and looking ahead. The balloon rally is important to the whole community, all businesses and the people involved. What a great idea to promote Monroe and add life to the businesses, as well as money into the community. It's wonderful Glambia saw a connection and took the lead. I hope others follow. I'm looking forward to the Balloon Rally! -- Elle>

A barb to the Monroe Times >for allowing fraudulent popups on their Web page. I have been had! There is a popup on the Times Web page advertising ACAI Berry and Colon Cleanse. It is totally false advertising. First, it states the person in the ad is from Monroe, WI. She isn't! It states it is a 14-dayfree trial supply, just pay postage of $4.95. Well, they bill you $4.95 the day the order is placed, then in less than 14 days, unknown to you, they bill your credit card $79.74 for the ACAI Berry capsules and another $79.98 for the Colon Cleanse that you were supposed to have for 14 days to try. Then a few days later they send out a bottle of each again. Surprise -- when you receive your credit card bill, there's $300 for supplements. I called my credit card company and they said they are having a terrible time with this problem. They are recommending if this happens to you to immediately cancel your credit card and get a new card. In addition taking out a refundable 30-day identify theft plan. In addition, when verifying my credit card charges we discovered a recent unknown company in Great Britain also charged another $79.98 to my card. So, beware, do not fall for this ad and always check over your credit card charges. It seems their magic number is $79 plus! -- Beware!>
