A very big blossom to all the checkers at Walmart, who go out of their way to help people who can't help themselves. Thank you! - Alan Shippy

A barb to the driver of the dually plow truck of Jeff Voegeli Landscaping Monday night. Purposely sliding your truck sideways around a corner after the snow storm was very unwelcomed as my 10-year-old son helped me clear snow from the sidewalk near the road. All the neighbors were equally as impressed. - Travis

A big barb to the city council for even considering giving up the very valuable and very much used and needed parking area that runs from 17th Avenue to 16th Avenue and 8th Street to Stop 'N Go on 9th Street. All employees from the telephone company, accounting firms, three beauty shops, law offices, banks, store owners and employees use it every weekday. It is usually two-thirds full and on Cheese Days, 100 percent full of the handicapped. If the city allows any building on it, where will all these people park? Obviously, they will have to park on the street in front of all these businesses. The merchants on the Square are already struggling to stay in business. If all these cars are parked on the streets, customers won't have a place to park and thus good-bye Square merchants. Please rethink this and realize that if another elderly housing is needed (and not sure that it is), these people need to be near a grocery store, because they need food. They don't need clothing and antiques. Think, who needs that area more - local people, employees and owners, or a developer who is interested in making a profit? Don't be mislead by possibly more real estate taxes. Think need. - Dick Young

A blossom to Dan Wegmueller. He pointed out the teachings of some professors who are teaching the Socialists' views that are so un-American to the values our forefathers have set for our great country not to have them turned over to anti-American teachers. Those teachers have been around for many years. We still pay their wages and can't fire them because of union-based tenure. They are also in charge of your grades. I am proud of Dan for bringing facts to light. Thank you again, Mr. Wegmueller. - Arlene M. Huffman

Blossoms to the Monroe businesses showing their patriotism by flying our stars and stripes proudly. Farm & Fleet displays four. Barbs to Piggly Wiggly with an empty flag pole. I was told last June that it was on order - where? From a slow boat from China? Thank you "patriots!" - Anonymous

A huge blossom to Mary Jane Grenzow, editor of the Times. I was looking for a picture that ran in the Times more than 10 years ago, with the hope of getting a copy to surprise a friend for his birthday. Extra steps had to be taken by her to obtain a copy since it was so old, but she was willing and able to do it. Thank you so much ... it was greatly appreciated by me and the recipient of the present. - Jessica Fletcher
