To everyone who reads the Barbs and Blossoms: Merry Christmas and a happy new year. Enjoy the holidays. - Merry Christmas
I would like to extend a blossom to Kevin at Cenex Gas Station. He was so helpful yesterday when I stopped there to put air in my tires. I really appreciate his concern and good attitude. We will be bringing our business there from now on! - Molly Jasper
Many blossoms to Angelus Retirement Community for a very nice resident and family Christmas Party. The music, food, and overall environment of the evening were excellent and very well received by all who attended. My hats off to the staff and all involved. - Resident's Son
A barb to the Green County Humane Society's new "policies." A friend and I recently stopped in to check out the cats, she was looking to add to her pack at home. Instead, we were advised we'd have to wait for an employee to escort us and then led to the dog room. When we asked which dogs could use walking, we were told we'd have to fill out Volunteer Applications (news to us, we've walked the dogs many times before and only had to sign in and out), and then told our applications would need to be approved and we'd be contacted the next day (we were not). We never did get to see the cats, all the employees were suddenly too busy. I don't know how the GCHS expects to keep their volunteers when they want to schedule them for certain hours (and seemed pretty against our just dropping in) and how they think they're going to adopt animals to good homes when you're not even allowed to interact with the animals. Does every potential adopter have to fill out a Volunteer Application and get it approved before they handle an animal they're interested in adopting? - Animal Lover
A blossom to Klondike cheese, for being patient and understanding during the morning of the 9th, for the employees to get to work after the snow storm. Thank you. - kristineamorose
This is a beautiful budding blossom to all those consumers who are choosing to shop locally this holiday season. The businesses in town offer a huge variety of price points, selection and options to further strengthen our community. Thank you for keeping our dollars local and re-investing in OUR ecomony. Spending your dollars here helps keep us strong. Way to go!! - Peacock
I am sending a huge barb to the city of Monroe and police department for the night of the snow storm. When my daughter went into labor and her husband tried clearing out the snow so they could transport to hospital but was not having much luck, she called police to see if they could dispatch a snow plow out as they were in the vicinity. All they wanted to do was send an ambulance when that is not what she needed at that time nor could they afford that. So instead she hitched a ride to the hospital in a private snow plow in the nick of time. Unfortunately her husband was stuck in ditch but he did make it in time for the birth. So with that being said a huge Blossom to Josh Foulker and Steve M for helping them out. You are great people unlike some. Thank you sooooooo much. - Lynn Zimmerman
I was at Walmart and they were having Shop With A Cop. It was so heart-warming to see those kids so excited to be walking through the store with police officers to get Christmas gifts. Seems people normally like to cut down others on here and I just wanted to applaud some good. - Positive
