A big bouquet of blossoms goes out to everyone who attended the Relay for Life fundraiser at Sir Buk's Sunday, March 25. I can't say enough about the overwhelming generosity of Ronnie Bowen for always allowing us to have these and all he donates in support of our cause. I also can't say enough how delighted and surprised I was that the amount we raised was almost double what I was hoping for. Just goes to show that there are people out there willing to help pay it forward for a great cause that has touched most everyone in one way or another. Thanks again to my family and all who attended and helped make the event a great success. - Anita Lawver

Yes, the new hospital is beautiful. It is a peaceful setting where people can sit outside, or get gourmet coffee and sit by the fireplace or waterfall. The warm colors are very inviting. My only barb is how everyone has to dress the same. I feel bad for the employees who are all shapes and sizes, yet have a few choices to pick from. Land's End sure made out like a bandit with little to no discount having all the office staff dressing in their purple shirts ($42 a piece.) Too bad they are such poor quality and many people had to have them altered to not look frumpy. Some can't afford the shirt and tailoring so they can't even feel proud of their appearance like they once could. A few people who dressed inappropriately ruined it for the whole place, donning the new name: The Stepford Clinic. Maybe they will realize that making everyone look the same isn't all it is cracked up to be. - Agreed

A big blossom to The Bean & Barrel. We went there for the first time on St. Patrick's Day and couldn't have been happier with the service and food. We will definitely be going back again. - Anonymous

First, why people will not sign their names when they send in a comment. Is this so hard to understand? If you are in business in Monroe, you could not afford to sign your name. Remember what happened to several Monroe businesses over the recall? Sad that things have come to this. If you are not satisfied with the way things are going, retaliate by boycotting or recalling. Second, a barb to all the antics going on in the Monroe City Council and the one who wrote the derogatory letter against Mike Boyce. I am neither for or against Mr. Boyce but found that letter in very poor taste. How old are we anyway? Maybe we should vote out the whole City Council and mayor and start from scratch (this could include Congress). What happened to working together to reach the best solutions to problems for the city of Monroe? - A Concerned Monroe Resident

A huge blossom to the young gentleman who stopped to help me on Monday. I was up on the roof checking my chimney when the wind blew my ladder down and I didn't have my cell phone with me. He saw me waving while standing on the roof. He drove by and went up the street and turned around and came back to see if I was in trouble. He proceeded to put the ladder back up and held it until I was safe on the ground. I didn't get his name but I am so thankful he came to my aid. May God bless him. - Richard Dauck

A barb to Monroe Clinic. Monroe Clinic promoted they were building a "green" building. I had to leave a tour of the new hospital early due to an allergic reaction to VOCs, formaldehyde and PVC that were outgassing from building materials and furnishing used in the building. I was also concerned about the water fountain which can harbor legionella. A recent Legionnaires' disease outbreak at the hospital in Cudahy was traced to a water feature in the hospital's lobby. It is sad that such a beautiful building was built to heal you but also can make you sick. - Anonymous

A great big barb to whoever took my big black purse at Taco Bell on March 11. Why not turn it in at counter there? (I was only gone 10 minutes.) I've waited for your decency to return it. But no, never. None of the contents are of any use to you. What good are my family photos? I would have been happy to give you the money. You still can return purse and contents - I will not press charges if all is there except money. Thank you. - A Good Citizen

A blossom to Sam and the professionals at Legacy Personal Training. Here's a small business that has invested in Monroe twice. It shows that hard work, dedication, knowledge and superior customer service can make a small business thrive in Monroe. We need more success stories like this. - Rob McCarthy
