A blossom bloomed in Thursday's storm that knocked out electricity at Monroe's Middle School and threatened to cancel the choral concert, but couldn't dampen the enthusiasm of 100 students inside. With assistance from Principal Lynn Wheeler, Dave Bristow and Rob Driver, adequate power was generated, flashlights lit the stage, and director Katie Doyle and her singers beamed with their passion for music. The evening served as a lesson in what leadership, creativity and great attitudes can accomplish. - John Baumann
