Baldwin cast right vote on tax cuts

We in Green County should be proud of our representative, Tammy Baldwin, who stood up for the middle class in the recent vote. There is no reason for tax breaks for the top 2 percent of earners. This will not create jobs, and will put a greater burden on other taxpayers of more modest means. The lowering of the estate tax also will benefit only the super-wealthy. There are already adequate exemptions for family farms and businesses. Social Security payroll taxes may seem burdensome, but they have permitted our Social Security system to function. Millionaires don't need Social Security, but most of us less wealthy folks do. In fact the tax should extend to higher incomes so the very wealthy pay more. We hope there are enough Tammy Baldwin-like thinkers in the Congress to remedy this shameful situation as soon as possible. Meanwhile, the deficit will grow, and we and our grandchildren will be burdened in supporting the life-styles of the very wealthy.
