Monroe

To the editor,

I attended the Tuesday night meeting of the Finance and Taxation Committee in which Michael Boyce had put on the agenda that he wanted city auditors to perform a forensic audit. A forensic audit is done to see if there was wrong-doing that could involve embezzlement or other criminal activity. For him to imply fraud is questionable behavior on his part at best.

For him to do his was completely out of line. This sentiment was expressed by other people on the committee. The treasurer has served the City of Monroe well over 25 years. For Alderman Boyce to attack her character, honesty, and work ethic was nothing more than vicious attacks against her. Current and past employees of her department attended to support her. The room was filled to capacity with people (including the public) to show support for her. Cathy (Maurer) read a statement expressing her thoughts on the innuendo that Michael Boyce has put out there to the public. When she finished, the whole room clapped loudly to send a message to Michael Boyce has put out there to the public. When she finished, the whole room clapped loudly to send a message to Michael Boyce that he had wronged her. Mr. Boyce owes the treasurer a big personal apology and a public apology in the newspaper. I wonder how he will spin this to the public if he does do this.
