I want to personally apologize to Larry Lyons, president of the Lyons Well Drilling Co., for the republishing of his letter to the editor of the Dubuque Telegraph-Herald without his permission. I had submitted it only as an FYI (for your information) thinking it was important contribution to the discussion. His letter stated the hard fact that there is NO karst under the dairy's site. Also it pointed out the very real threat of the great many improperly abandoned wells in the county which mainline contamination directly into our aquifers. I had not suspected the letter would be published here.
Secondly, I want to apologize to all those being slandered and having their reputations "slimed" by the opponents of the Heritage Dairy project, most especially to Rep. Jim Sacia. He has "no dog in this fight" but has striven mightily to separate the wheat from the chaff in this dispute. It demonstrates the weakness of the H.O.M.E.S. case when they stoop to delivering personal attacks and threatening boycotts of local merchants unless they tow the party line.
