Another successful pie sale for senior center

Behring Senior Center, Monroe

On April 22, Good Friday, the Behring Senior Center held its annual fundraiser pie sale at First National Bank and Trust. It was a normal Good Friday; it rained, and hard. That did not deter the fabulous Senior Center pie bakers from bringing those beautiful home-baked pies to the bank. We do not like to disappoint.

Since it rained, it took us a little longer than normal to sell 85 pies. Normally we are out by noon; this year it took until 3 p.m. No problem, we got the job done and when the dust settled we had netted $2,200! The best pie sale ever.

All we can say is thank you, thank you, thank you!

A very big thank you goes to all who supplied us with a pie, taking time out of an already busy holiday weekend to craft a pie and bring it to the bank. Also, thank you to those volunteers who worked selling those beautiful pies. Such an assortment we had. We are very proud of our volunteers who had no trouble saying "yes" when we asked for help.

We also want to thank all the folks, bank customers and others from the community who came looking to purchase a pie. We should be proud to live in a community that has such feelings of support for their seniors.

Another big thank you to First National Bank and Trust, who every year generously let us come into their bank to do our selling. We are always made to feel welcome and their help once again proves that community service is alive and well, making Monroe a great place to live.
