Who saw Eli coming?

Talk about deja vu.

A few years ago, when Steve McNair somehow, against all odds, eluded the Rams pass rush in the season's biggest game and completed a pass after somehow not brushing his knee against the turf, I leapt to my feet with uncontrollable expectation.

When "the play" happened Sunday night, it was the same situation.

The moment Eli Manning managed to somehow escape not only the Patriots' rush but also Mike Carrey's whistle for being in the grass, I sprung up again and instinctively yelled, "C'mon Eli! Have it!"

Sure enough, as tends to happen when sports' stakes are highest, David Tyree made one of those against-all-odds plays, leaping and snaring the rifled long ball and pinning in against his helmet mere inches from the grasp of Rodney Harrison before the pigskin came similarly close to the turf thereafter.

Then there's the circumstances. That play was the turnkey for the drive that upended what's been discussed as the best team ever.

As a result and in conclusion, I think I have a new favorite Super Bowl. Move over classic Air McNair and the Rams' victory by a yard.
