There was one night a couple of weeks ago when I couldn't sleep, so went to our Web site to check and see if there were any Reader Comments to approve and post online. This was somewhere around 2 a.m. The last time I'd checked was about 7 or 8 the night before.
There were eight comments to read and approve.
Which got me thinking ... just how many people are visiting our site in the wee hours of the morning?!
Well, I can tell you.
Based on last week's figures (from May 13 through May 19), the site is busiest between 1 and 2 in the afternoon. That makes sense. Stories and photos from that day's paper have just been posted, and people are returning to work from lunch. We know that a lot of people read us online while at work.
The next busiest times of day are the hours before and after that, from noon to 1 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. The average number of visits actually remains pretty strong and consistent from 11 a.m. until about 9 p.m.
The slowest time of day? Between 4 a.m. and 5 a.m. and between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m., when about 20 visits are recorded each hour.
