My husband and I dont see a lot of movies at the theater. Weve got plenty of excuses ticket prices, popcorn prices, hectic schedules and so much more. But Ill let you in on a secret those excuses are all plain old bunk.
We are, quite simply, stricken with Movie Fear. No, we didnt walk into a screening of Saw36 when we meant to go see Benjamin Button. And neither one of us is afraid of the dark. We just have a distressingly bad track record at picking movies.
Let me put it this way: We saw Unbreakable in the theater. The only thing I remember about that movie is something about a train and the fact that Im pretty sure we were sitting close to the person who reviewed it for that towns newspaper. (The reviewer talked about people snickering and questioning why theyd actually spent money to see that dog of a movie, which, uh guilty!)
We saw another stinker right about the same time What Lies Beneath. I remember debating with Jeff as we walked out of the movie who was responsible for that bad decision.
That was 9 years ago, now both of those movies came out in 2000. But our bad streak continues. We saw The Happening at the theater the night it was released! Oh, my gosh, what a bad movie. (Weve sworn off M. Night Shyamalan, by the way.)
By now, we pretty much talk ourselves out of seeing any movie in the theater, simply because we dont want to be walking back to the car, again, and thinking about the other things our $25 or $30 could have bought us.
So, have you seen any good DVDs lately?
